I have been the school nurse for Cordell Public Schools since August, 2000. I have been a registered nurse since 1979. My responsibilities include providing care for acute and chronic health needs for our students. I serve as a resource person for our faculty and staff members. I provide annual training for CPR, first aid, anaphylaxis, diabetes, asthma, seizures and several other health conditions, as needed, to our staff members. I serve as a resource person for parents, families and our community. I coordinated the Food 4 Kids Program, which is part of the Regional Food Bank.
I have worked in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, home health and family clinics. Teaching about health is an integral part of nursing in any work setting.
I have been married to Tim Puett since 1979. He has been an educator and administrator for 40 years. We have lived in many parts of Oklahoma, both large and small. I have one daughter and one son and one granddaughter.
I love to read and go to the movies and I admit to being an avid reality and food television watcher. I like to watch singing competition shows. I am a big fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder! Despite the necessary evils of paperwork, I LOVE my students, their hugs and smiles, and I count this as one of my most favorite nursing positions.
